Nolan Pierre Matherne Sr., 78, a native of Lockport, La. and resident of Pointe-aux-Chenes, La. died Wednesday, November 7, 2007, at 3:10 a.m.


He is survived by his wife, Lucia Marie LeBoeuf Matherne; one son, Nolan P. Matherne, Jr. and his wife Donna; five daughters, Patsy M. Toups and her husband Larry “Duke”, Doris M. Duplantis and her husband Duffy, Sr., Dinah Payne and her husband James “Jim”, Trudy M. Matherne and her husband Elson, Jr., and Sonia M. Pellegrin and her husband Thomas “Peanut”; one sister, Bertha Matherne; 16 grandchildren, Tania Toups Benoit, Shana-Rhea Duplantis Bergeron, Wendy Toups Caronna, Duffy “D.J.” Duplantis, Grace Toups, Andre’ Matherne, Francine “Franny” Matherne, John Matherne, Ashley Rodrigue, Brandi Matherne, Tate Matherne, Blake Pellegrin, James Payne, Michelle Escoto, Jeffrey Payne, and Samatha Payne; nine great-grandchildren; and his special niece, Beverly M. Miller.


He was preceded in death by his parents, Allain John and Lizzie Theriot Matherne; one son, David John Matherne; four brothers, Lu-Allen Matherne, Thomas Matherne, Norman Matherne, and Harry Matherne; and two sisters, Lu-Alice Rodriguez and Rita LeBoeuf.

Nolan was a devout Catholic and a parishioner of St. Charles Catholic Church. He was a retired oilfield worker with McDermott for 21 years. He loved fishing, hunting, carpentry and dancing.

He is buried in St. Charles Catholic Church Cemetery.

Chauvin Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
