Norris Joseph Martin, 77, a native and resident of Raceland, La., died Friday, March 20, at 6:15 p.m.


He is survived by his daughters, Marie Martin Blouin and husband Roy, and Martha Martin; brother, Michael Martin; sisters, Lorriane Pierce, Betty Loupe and Pamela Falgout; grandchildren, Michelle Blouin Chiasson and husband Benjamin, Allison Martin Fonseca, Rene Martin and Sabrina Martin; and great-grandchildren, Bethani Chiasson and Nathan Chiasson.


He was preceded in death by his wife, Larrice Bourgeois Martin; parents, Lawrence and Irene Melancon Martin; son, Norris Martin Jr.; and brother, Lawrence Martin Jr.

He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War and was a member of the American Legion Post 349 and Woodmen of the World. He retired from Patterson Truck Lines and Vinson Guard Service. He was an avid football fan, especially of the New Orleans Saints. He was also an avid fan of the New York Mets and wrestling.

Visitation will be 8:30 a.m. to 11 a.m. Saturday, March 28, at Saint Mary’s Nativity Catholic Church with the funeral service to follow.

Samart-Mothe Funeral Home of Raceland is in charge of the arrangements.
