Octave John “O.J.” Lirette, 69, a native and resident of Houma, La., died at 3:15 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 17, 2011.

Mr. Lirette worked for Texaco Paradis Plant. He was a parishioner of Annunziata Catholic Church and he enjoyed fishing and hunting. He was an avid outdoorsman and loved to do carpentry work.


He is survived by his wife, Sheryl Mary Lirette; daughters, Dorothy (James) Bergeron, Holly (Keith) Lirette and Angela (Lloyd) Babin; sisters, Lana Pellegrin; and seven grandchildren, Bradley Bergeron, Rhea Babin, Matthew Lirette, Andrew Babin, Bailey Lirette, Danielle Bergeron and Sarah Babin.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Wiley and Bernice Hebert Lirette; brother, Emos Lirette; and sisters, Shirley Matherne and Una Rogers.

He is buried at Our Lady of the Most Holy Rosary Cemetery. (Chauvin)
