Oneal Chube, 88, a native of St. Francisville, La., and resident of Birmingham, Ala., died at 9 a.m. Thursday, March 18, 2010, at UAB Highland in Birmingham.


Mr. Chube was a teacher, administrator and football coach for 26 years. Upon retirement, he served as business manager of Chube Medical Corporation in Gary, Ind., for 15 years, before retiring with his wife to reside in New Orleans. He was a proud World War II veteran, having served during the D-Day Allied Invasion of Normandy through the Battle of the Bulge.

He is survived by his son, Frank Chube; daughters, Janice Moore, Renee (Phelgar) Washington and Majella (Herschell) Hamilton; brother, David Chube; sisters-in-law, Mary Randolph and Claire Lynn Chube; eight grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

He is buried at the Franklin Mausoleum.
