Oscar Joseph Bergeron Jr., 84, a native of Ashland Plantation and a resident of Houma, La., died at 11:40 a.m. Friday, June 4, 2010.


Mr. Bergeron was a parishioner St. Gregory Barbarigo Catholic Church. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus and was a past Grand Knight. He was a member of the American Legion and the Veterans of Foreign War. Oscar was also a member of the Krewe of Christopher and the Krewe of Terreanians. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II and participated in the D-Day invasion.


He is survived by his wife, Rosalie Brien Dumond Bergeron; eight children, Oscar (Laura) Bergeron III; Paula (Charles) Michel, Amy B. Rock, Amanda (Donald) Porter, Fay (Lanny) Theriot, Gerard Bergeron, Jennifer (Kenneth) Detiveaux and Jill (Damien) Theriot; son-in-law, Perry Breaux; three stepchildren, Karen (Lawrence) Belanger, Allen (Becky) Dumond and Mark (Dawn) Dumond; 18 grandchildren; 10 step-grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; five step-great-grandchildren; brother, Rubin Bergeron; and sister, Betty Luke Hebert.

Mr. Bergeron buried in St. Francis de Sales Cemetery No. 2.
