Local troops brace for life away from home

Paul “J.P.” Joseph LeCompte, 87, a native and resident of Houma, La., died Tuesday, Dec. 29, 2009.


Mr. LeCompte was a parishioner of St. Gregory Barbarigo Catholic Church. A retired carpenter, he enjoyed carving. He was also an avid hunter and fisherman.


He is survived by his wife, Lita Rita Hebert LeCompte; sons, Stephen (Patsy) and Dennis (Sarah) LeCompte; daughters, Evelyn (Oley “Tubby”) Autin, Meridy (Randy) Liner and Nettie (David) Prejean; brother, Phillip LeCompte; sister, Kate Graham; 12 grandchildren; 30 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Paul and Nettie Bergeron LeCompte; son, Paul LeCompte; brothers, Bennie, Bobby and Roy LeCompte; sisters, Norma Robichaux, Jeannette Domangue and Alice Sonier; and one great-grandson, Scottie Prejean.

He is buried at St. Francis de Sales Cemetery No. 2.
