Paul S. “Moose” Durapau Sr., 71, a native of New Orleans, La., and a resident of Hahnville La., died Saturday, Aug. 15, at 6:05 p.m.


He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Carolina “Carrie” Medina Durapau; three sons, Paul Durapau Jr. and wife Kathleen, Walter Durapau and fiancé Deborah, and Martin Durapau and wife Angela; one brother, Richard Durapau; two sisters, Marie Parks and Virginia Nicholas; seven grandchildren; and two step-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Marcel and Marceline Kinler Durapau; four brothers, Walter Durapau, Charles Durapau, Robert Durapau and Marcel Durapau Jr.; and two sisters, Marguerite Lauland and Nora Daigle.


He retired as a welder from St. Charles Parish Public Works and enjoyed woodworking, gardening and fishing. He was a parishioner of Our Lady of the Most Holy Rosary Catholic Church in Hahnville.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to masses and flowers for the church.

Visitation will be 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 19, at Holy Rosary Catholic Church in Hahnville with Mass of Christian Burial to follow. Burial will be at the church cemetery.

Samart-Mothe Funeral Home in Raceland, La., is in charge of the arrangements.
