Pearl T. Bergeron, a lifelong resident of Chauvin, LA., passed into the light at the age of 89, Friday, February 16, 2007.


Funeral services were held at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Chauvin, with burial in the church cemetery.

She is survived by two sons, Richard Bergeron and wife, Diane, and James “Boo” Bergeron; three daughters, Carmer Falgout and husband, Tom, Marlene Champagne and husband, Leon “Panoke”, and Claudette Bascle and husband, Oneal “Butch”; 17 grandchildren, Jessica Boudreaux, Debbie Rogers, Robbie Bergeron, Kim Authement, Kristy Anderson, Tanya Falgout, Tess Chustz, Tracie Harper, Tommy Falgout, John Champagne, Joni Huerstel, Barry Bergeron, Becky Riggs, Bart Bergeron, Angelle, Michael and Keri Lynn Niette; 24 great-grandchildren; seven great-great-grandchildren; and one sister, Mabel Martin.


She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Claude Bergeron; her parents, Andrew and Josephine Pellegrin Thibodeaux; five sisters, Eula Brunet, Viley Lapeyrouse, Emily Picou, Alice Boudreaux and Lois Farkas; and one brother, Andrew Thibodeaux.

Whether in her role as mother, grandmother, “Aunt Pearl” or special friend, her inner light embraced us all. Momma’s unconditional love and support, generosity and sweetness will live forever in our hearts. She leaves us her legacy of joyful spirit, passion for life, deep faith in God and hearty laughter. Her greatest passion besides her children was her garden and generously shared her bounty. The family sends heartfelt appreciation to Momma’s beloved care giver, Marie Boudreaux, whose meticulous care and love made Momma’s last one and one-half years special and gave great comfort to the family.

Special thanks to Bayou Region Hospice staff, especially Loa and Tina, who called Pearl “My Pretty Pearl,” Gracie, Debbie and Erin.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to Bayou Region Hospice.

Samart Funeral Home of Houma was in charge of arrangements.
