Ralph Cheramie, Sr., 79, a native of Golden Meadow, La. and a resident of Grand Isle, La. died Friday, November 9, 2007, at 12:10 p.m.


He is survived by his two sons, Ralph Cheramie, Jr. and his wife Mary and David Cheramie and his wife Tina; one sister Neva Callais; and one grandchild.


He was preceded in death by his wife, Sadie Chouest Cheramie; his parents, Ariamise and Freddia Collins Cheramie, Sr.; five brothers, Ariamise Cheramie, Jr., Jimmy Cheramie, Roy Cheramie, Randolph Cheramie, and Rudolph Cheramie; and one sister, Elise Horton.

Ralph was a devout Catholic and a parishioner of Our Lady of the Isle Catholic Church. He was a loving husband to his wife Sadie for 50 wonderful years. He served his country in the United States Army during World War II and the Korean Conflict. He enjoyed fishing, playing cards, and spending time with his family.

Visitation is Monday, November 12, 2007, from 9:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m., with the funeral to follow at Our Lady of Prompt Succor Catholic Church. He will be buried in the church cemetery.

Samart-Mothe Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
