Raymond J. Matherne, 82, a native and resident of Raceland, La., died at 9:10 p.m. Sunday, July 11, 2010.
Mr. Matherne was a parishioner of St. Hilary of Poitiers Catholic Church. He was a U.S. Navy World War II veteran, a member of V.F.W. American Legion Lions Club and he was retired from the U.S. Post Office after 38 years.
He is survived by his wife, Dolores Ledet Matherne; sons, Raymond Jr. (Dianne), Brian (Maureen) and Keith Matherne; daughter, Celeste (Rick) Benefield; brothers, Eddie and Bobby Matherne; four grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Eddie and Flore Thibodaux Matherne; one stepdaughter, Gwen Melancon; two brothers, Guy and Elvin Matherne; and three sisters, Vivian Adams, Rose Cretini and Ruby Grabert.
He is buried at St. Hilary of Poitiers Catholic Church Cemetery.
