Richard D. Bergeron, 79, a native and resident of Houma, LA., died at 10:27 a.m. Friday, March 23, 2007.

Visitation will be from 4 to 9 p.m. Monday and from 9 a.m. to funeral time Tuesday at Samart Funeral Home of Houma. Services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at the funeral home, with burial in St. Francis de Sales Cemetery No. 2.


He is survived by one daughter, Elizabeth Ann Vito and husband, Richard; one brother, Henry Paul Andrew and wife, Betty Bergeron, of Thibodaux, LA.; two sisters, Dorothy Jennings and husband, Carl, of Rayne, LA., and Clairbel Miley and husband, Milton, of Baton Rouge, LA.; two grandsons, Richard “Joshua” and wife, Jill Vito, and Seth Sebastain Vito; and one great-grandson, Antonio Sebastiano Vito.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Antoinette Fontana Bergeron; his parents, Harry and Albertin Martin Bergeron; five brothers, Calvin, Eulen, Harry, George and Berkley Bergeron; and four sisters, Beulah Henry, Eddrest Landry, Sadie and Shirley Bergeron.

He was a World War II veteran and a brother of the 32nd Masons. He was a beloved member of the Fontana Family.

Samart Funeral Home of Houma is in charge of the arrangements.
