Protection vital for future, locals tell Mabus

Richard Paul Fitzgibbons, 34, a native of Abilene, Texas, and resident of Thibodaux, La., died Thursday, Aug. 12, 2010.
Mr. Fitzgibbons was dive supervisor for numerous companies. He graduated from Albany High School in 1994. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, water sports, reading and spending time with his friends and their children. He was a Dallas Cowboys fan.
He is survived by the love of his life, Jessica Lynn Martin; father, Donald Richard Fitzgibbons; stepmother, Doris Miller; mother, Vicki McCaleb Wade; stepfather, Gary Wade; brother, David Earl Fitzgibbons; sister, Katie Lee Fitzgibbons; stepbrother, Tom Miller Hill; two nieces; one nephew; and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Earl and Vivian McCaleb, and Muriel Fitzgibbons.
