Sheriff’s ranges give public a new target

Robert “Bobby” Joseph Pitre Sr., 80, a native and resident of Houma, La., died Sunday, Feb. 28, 2010.


Mr. Pitre was a parishioner of St. Francis de Sales Catholic Church. A professional musician and carpenter, he was an avid golfer and had a great sense of humor.

He is survived by his wife, Virginia Clark Pitre; daughter, Cindy (Ronnie) Boudreaux of Houma; sons, Bobby Jr. (Dana) of Thibodaux, Keith (friend Diane) Pitre of Houma; stepdaughters, Jane Cole of Lafayette, Nia Frazier of Clearwater, Fla., and Janita “Deetsie” Thibodeaux of Metairie; stepson, Joseph Thibodeaux of Houma; six grandchildren; one great-grandchild; 10 step-grandchildren; sisters, Ione “Toni” Stark of Houma and Connie Viguerie of Mississippi; brothers, Sterling of Chauvin, Kenneth and Blake, both of Houma; and 10 step-great-grandchildren.


He was preceded in death by his first wife, Hilda Thibodeaux Pitre; parents, Harry Sr. and Emily Bergeron Pitre; sisters, Beverly, Loyce and Joyce Pitre; and brother, Harry Pitre Jr.

Visitation will be held from 6 to 10 p.m. Tuesday, March 2, at Chauvin Funeral Home, and from 8:30 to 10 a.m. Wednesday, March 3, at St. Francis de Sales Cathedral. A Mass of Christian burial will follow at 10 a.m. at the church.

He will be buried at Our Lady of the Most Holy Rosary Cemetery.
