Senior Chief Petty Officer, (Retired), Robert B. Bramlett, 83, a native of Good Springs, Ala., and a resident of Houma, La., died Monday, April 26, 2010.


Mr. Bramlett was a U.S. Navy veteran with 30 years of service, first in the Pacific campaign in World War II and, later, the Korean Conflict. He also served as a Navy recruiter in Houma.


Sr. Chief Petty Officer Bramlett was awarded the American Campaign (WWII), Asiatic Pacific Campaign (WWII), three bronze stars, National Defense Service, Navy China Service, Navy Good Conduct (WWII), seven Bronze stars, World War II Victory and the World War II Navy Occupation medals.

Mr. Bramlett served as a Scout leader, a baseball and softball coach and was on the Terrebonne Livestock and Agriculture Association’s board of directors. He was also a founding member of the Terrebonne Parish Sheriff’s Posse. In addition, he was a lifetime member of the Naval Masonic Lodge No. 184. His hobbies included raising rabbits and bee keeping.

He is survived by his wife, Betty J. Bramlett; sons, Danny (Rita) and Bobby (Roberta Pitre) Bramlett; daughters, Suzanne (Edwin) Duet and Missy (Dr. John) Logan; sister, Mary (Tom) Wojtalik; seven grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

Mr. Bramlett is buried at Garden of Memories Cemetery.
