‘Crimes of the Heart’: Tragedy, laughs

Robert Charles Schefferstein Sr., 80, a native of New Orleans, La., and resident of Morgan City, La., died Tuesday, Jan. 11, 2011.

In life Mr. Schefferstein was remembered as being an ambitious business owner and loving provider for his family. He was the original owner of Robbie’s Poboy in Houma, La., and Gator Stop in Bayou Vista, La. He will be deeply missed and not forgotten.


He is survived by his sons, Robert Jr., Charles, Peter, Jason , Brandon and Bradley Schefferstein; daughters, Gladys Mae Guilliot, Annette Troxler and Erin Verret; many grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.


He was preceded in death by his parents, William and Florentine Famularo Schefferstein; and siblings, Ruth Williams, Mary Schreiber, Josephine Kairdolf, Elaine Roth, Dorothy Bresher, Ellen Diebel, Thelma Thorngreen and William, Paul and Joyce Schefferstein.

Special thanks to Dr. Dishman of the Medicine Clinic and husband Barry Bolner of Nursing Care for demonstrating more love and selflessness in his care and passing than he could have ever asked for. Also thanks to Journey Hospice for its professional and sensitive services in his latter days.

He is buried at Morgan City Cemetery.
