Robinson Joseph Guidry, 81, a native and resident of Galliano, La., died Tuesday, Oct. 25, 2011.


Mr. Guidry loved to carve and build model boats and play the harmonica especially at church services. He was a past citizen of the year and a fisherman by trade. He loved trawling and was a great story teller and historian.


He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Jeanette Guidry; sons, Reed, Keith (Sherlene) and Robert (Christine) Guidry; daughter, June (Mike) Lefort; brother, James Guidry; sisters, Nita Plaisance, Doris Stewart, Lolita Chouest and Ruth Lagarde; seven grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Sampson and Alexina Guidry; grandsons, David Guidry and Matthew Lefort; brothers, Herman, Morrison, Rogers, Robert and Sampson Jr.; and sister, Alzina Pitre.

Visitation will be 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Friday, Oct. 28, at Our Lady of Prompt Succor Catholic Church with mass to follow. Burial will be at Cheramie Cemetery. (Falgout)
