Rodney Martin

Rodney Paul Martin, 45, a native of Chauvin, La., and resident of Dulac, La., died Sunday, July 11, 2010.

Mr. Martin worked for the Terrebonne Parish Sheriff’s Office for 18 years where he was currently a sergeant. He started in corrections and transferred to the transportation division from there he handled inmate work crews. He also owned Cajun Stripping and Painting LLC and was a part-time security officer for Chabert Medical Center. He was a former member of the Little Caillou and Bourg Fire Departments and a member of the Woodmen of the World. He was a loving and devoted son, brother, father and grandfather.

He is survived by his wife, Kimberly Kelley; sons, Rodney “R.J.” Jr., Evan and Eli Martin and Ethan Kelley-Martin; daughters, Tiffanie and Britni Martin; grandchild, Ysabel Billiot; parents, Ruffin and Mary Prosperie Martin; brothers, Ruffin Jr. and Rudy Martin; sisters, Rhonda Clement and Ramona Hemphill; and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Louis Steff Prosperie and Ida Marie Trahan and Lena Verret and Thomas Joseph Martin; and one son, Gavin Paul Martin.

He is buried at St. Elie Cemetery.
