Rosa Garcia Vila, 92, a native of Cuba and resident of Morgan City, La., died Thursday, Oct. 10, 2013.
Mrs. Vila was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church and a school teacher for many years. She was an artist and loved to create beautiful oil paintings. She enjoyed sweets and would often have desert before her meals. She didn’t know the word no and would see to everyone’s needs well before her own. She loved animals and nature and tending to her garden was one of her passions.
She is survived by her daughters, Rosie Womack and Eileen and Lian Torralbas; five grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Camilo Vila; and parents, Alfredo del Campo and Estela Garcia.
Mass will be at 1 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 12, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church. (Hargrave)
