Rosina Valdes, 89, a native of Cuba and a resident of Houma, La., died at 1:31 p.m. Thursday, January 22.
She is survived by one son, Ricardo and wife Rebecca Valdes; daughter, Elba and husband Michael Matherne; sisters, Meya Cuesta, Rina Ruiz and Caita Vargas; grandchildren, John Jr. and Matthew Valdes, Nicholas Valdes, Jennifer M. Wels, Kent Matherne and Kristy Chaisson; and great-grandchildren, David and Brittany Valdes, Rebecca and Makayla Matherne, Alina and Hunter Chaisson and Katherine Zufelt.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Francisco Valdes; parents, Ricardo and Manuela Rodriguez Ruiz; son, John Frank Valdes Sr.; granddaughter, Marcy Valdes; and brother, Ricardo Ruiz.
She was a member of the Catholic Daughters and a parishioner of St. Bernadette Catholic Church.
Visitation will be 8 a.m. to 10 a.m. Monday, January 26, at Falgout Funeral Home with the funeral service to follow. Burial will be at St. Francis de Sales Cemetery No. 2.
Falgout Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
