Jail woes continue in Lafourche Parish with tax on hold – for now

Ruth Rita Burkhardt Breaux Matherne, 83, a native of New Orleans, La., and resident of Vacherie, La., died at 4:30 a.m. Monday, May 9, 2011.
She is survived by her daughters, Sharon Breaux and Shirley Matherne; brother, Melvin Burkhardt; nine grandchildren; one step-grandchild; 11 great-grandchildren; and six step-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her first husband, Merrill Breaux; second husband, Joseph Matherne; parents, Henry and Amelia Burkhardt; daughter, Sheila Burgess; brother, Henry Burkhardt; sisters, Dorothy and Henrietta Burkhardt; and one great-grandchild.
She is buried at Garden of Memories Cemetery. (Falgout)
