Sadie Guarisco

Sadie Lucy Morella Guarisco, 83, a native of Patterson, La., and resident of Morgan City, La., died at 12:05 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 20, 2010 at Ochsner Hospital in New Orleans, La.

Ms. Guarisco spent many years as the office manager at the Louisiana State Department of Motor Vehicles in Morgan City. The lovable person that she was, she spent those years trying to make everything right on her watch at that state agency. She would bend over backwards to help those who needed help.

She was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Morgan City, and belonged to the AARP. She was very proud of her Italian heritage and shared that with her family. She had some very trying times in her life as she was widowed at an early age with five boys to raise. Raise them she did, and a magnificent job, a family of which to be proud. Sadie loved to cook Italian food of all kinds, and a great job she did. She loved to be with her children and grandchildren when they played sports, as she loved the outdoors. Sadie was a kind, considerate, compassionate person and a good friend to many, who as a mother sacrificed herself for her children.

She is survived by her sons, John (Anne), Joseph (Cristina), Peter Jr., Thomas and Christopher (Mari) Guarisco; brothers, Anthony, Joseph (Tonia) and John (Charlene) Morella; sister-in-law, Mary Lena Cutrera Morella; brother-in-law, Mario (Janice) Guarisco; 14 grandchildren, Shannon, John Jr., Shawn, Erin, Isabella, Kristen, Nicolas, Lauren, and Brennan Guarisco, Patrick Guthrie, Cierra Savoie, Jason and Leslie Rousse, and Blake Dufrene; and one great-grandchild, Hayden Matherne.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Joseph and Lena Perry Morella; husband, Peter John Guarisco; one brother, Sam Morella; one grandson, Gabriel Guarisco; and one brother-in-law, Salvador Guarisco.
