Sarah Corte Savoia, 94, a resident of Donaldsonville, La., died Monday, Oct. 24, 2011.
Mrs. Savoia’s love of teaching eventually led her to become the principal of Ascension Catholic Middle School where she served with distinction until she finally retired in 1982. She was active at Ascension Catholic Church where she was a Eucharistic minister and participated in the RICA program. She was a person of innate dignity, compassion and intelligence. She left a lasting impact on those whose lives she touched.
She is survived by her husband, Bruno Savoia; son, Charles (Joan) Savoia; daughter, Sarah (Patrick) Vance; sisters, Catherine Spadaro, Josephine Burvant and Virginia Colletti; eight grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Joseph and Rosaria Corte; brothers, Anthony, Philip and Samuel Corte; and sister, Margaret. (Ourso)
