Shamel Antwan Nixon, 2, a native of Houma, La., and a resident of New Orleans, La., died Thursday, July 23.
He is survived by his mother, Jasmine C. Nixon; father, Shamel A. Byrd; step-father, Phillip Martin III; two brothers, JaWuan Wilson and Phillip Martin IV; and two sisters, JaShay S. Nixon and Samiyah Martin.
He was preceded in by his great-great-grandparents, Sylvia Dunbar and Albert Turner.
He attended Christian Church of God in Christ. He enjoyed watching Spongebob and playing with his brothers and sisters.
Visitation will be 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. Friday, July 31, at Community Funeral Home with the funeral service to follow. Burial will be at Southdown Cemetery.
Community Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
