Sherel A. Martin Jr., 81, a native of Louisa, La., and resident of Patterson, La., died at 11:50 a.m. Thursday, Nov. 17, 2011.
Mr. Martin was a loving and dedicated husband, father and grandfather.
He was a U.S. Air Force veteran of the Korean War. Following a long and successful career in the oil industry, he went on to become the St. Mary Parish Assessor, where he faithfully served for 16 years.
He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Bonnie Martin; children, Leesa Foreman, Laddie (Ben) Lawrence, Mary (John) Spradlin, Shelly (Al) Adams, Bonnie (Keith) Patureau and Sherel (Dana) Martin; brother, Richard (Marcia) Martin; sisters, Audrey (Phillip) Falzon, Claire (Fred) Williams and Theresa (Thomas) Olivier; and 13 grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Sherel Sr. and Addie Martin; and sister, Carolyn Crochet.
Visitation will be 9:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Monday, Nov. 21, at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Patterson with Mass of Christian Burial to follow. Burial will be at the church cemetery. (Ibert’s)
