December 4, 2010Sidney Denis Thibodeaux, 70, a native of Crowley, La., and resident of Dutchtown, La., and former resident of Thibodaux, La., died Sunday, Nov. 28, 2010.
Mr. Thibodeaux received a BA degree from Tulane University and MS and Ph.D. degrees from LSU. He worked at several LSU Agricultural Experiment Stations and taught at Nicholls State University. He was a member of Sigma Xi. He was known for his love of plants, teaching and reading.
He is survived by his wife, Louise Thibodeaux; daughters, Jennifer (Randy) Shoemaker, Molly (Mark) Sanchez and Wendy (Alan) Pesch; sons, Col. Jacques (Greta) Thibodeaux and Tim (Aimee) Thibodeaux; sister, Glenda (Pat) Carriere; and nine grandchildren, Sarah, Matthew, Alex, Mason, Josh, George, John, William and Catherine.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Sidney and Effie Abshire Thibodeaux; and a sister, Jane Powers.
Memorial donations may be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital in Memphis or St. Gabriel Catholic Church.
It was his desire to be cremated.
