Local teenager was a true hero, always fought the good fight

January 16, 2012Suzy Hood Blanchard, 60, a native of Abbeville, La., and resident of Raceland, La., died at 2:25 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 11, 2012.
Mrs. Blanchard was a parishioner of St. Mary’s Nativity Catholic Church.
She is survived by her husband, Adrian Blanchard; son, Chester Hood III; daughters, Kristie Hood and Sage Rodrigue; stepdaughter, Amber Blanchard; brother, Jules Meaux; sisters, Betsy Meaux and Deanna Golley; five grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her first husband, Chester Hood Jr.; parents, Savey and Lucille Meaux; and sisters, Wendy Goyne, Beatrice Menne and Elaine Miguez.
Visitation will be 5 to 9 p.m. Friday, Jan. 13, at Samart-Mothe Funeral Home in Mathews, La., and 8 to 11 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 14, at St. Mary’s Nativity Catholic Church with Mass of Christian Burial to follow. Burial will be at the church cemetery. (Samart-Mothe)
