Vandebilt High seniors share Christmas spirit

December 20, 2010Thaddeus E. Cornes, 96, a native of Buckhorn, Texas, and longtime resident of Morgan City, La., died Tuesday, Dec. 14, 2010.
Mr. Cornes was a lease operator for Shell Oil Co. and retired after 33 years with the company; he enjoyed gardening and raised a garden well into his eighties. He believed in exercise and attributed his long life to being active.
He is survived by his sons, Jerry and John (Marilyn) Cornes; ten grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.
He was preceded in death by his parents, James Edgar and Elizabeth Neuton Corns; one daughter, Wanda Sue Varnam; and three brothers.
He is buried at Morgan City Cemetery.
