July 11, 2011Therese Whatley, 87, a native of Napoleonville, La., and resident of Broussard, La., died at 11:41 p.m. Saturday, July 2, 2011.
Mrs. Whatley was born into a large and loving family and passed on to her own family the most important things in life; loving and caring for those you hold dear and helping and showing kindness to all.
She is survived by her sister, Girt Foster; daughters, Theresa (Herbert) Thompson, Patricia (Floyd) Fitzgerald and Cynthia (Michael) Fernandez; 11 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; and five great-great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her first husband and father of her children, Gordon Smith Sr.; son, Gordon Smith Jr.; daughter, Barbara Corrales; second husband, Ernest Whatley; stepdaughter, Loveland Leonard; siblings, Herbert Boudreaux, Hilda Holley, Shirley Lainhart, Jeanne Andre and Harry, Henry and Dalton Boudreaux; and grandson, Don Paul Rodrigue.
Burial was at Morgan City Cemetery. (Twin City)
