Thomas “Poppa Tom” Morris Aston, Sr., 72, a native of Randolph, Miss., and resident of Bourg, La., died at 4:34 a.m., Sunday, May 23, 2010.


Mr. Aston was a parishioner of St. Ann Catholic Church in Bourg. He retired from Martin Marietta Aggregates after 37 years of service. He was employed for 12 years with Cajun Cutters Inc.


He is survived by his wife, Nellie “Nell” Bergeron Aston; son, Thomas Jr. (Gena Cunningham) Aston; brother, James (Kaye) Aston; sisters, Trillia Blue, Maxine Braddock, Mattie (Farris) Nabors, Mary Ellen (Nolan) Bergeron, Ethel “Sue” (Mike) Douthitt and Carolyn (Wayne) Boatwright; sister-in-law, Joann Aston; three grandchildren; and one great-grandson.

He is buried at St. Francis de Sales Cemetery No. 2.
