May 6, 2011Thomas “Michael” Backus Myers, 69, a native of Harlingen, Texas, and resident of Houma, La., died at 2:30 a.m. Sunday, May 1, 2011.
Mr. Myers loved being on the water in every aspect – fishing, sailing, boating and hanging out on the beach. He loved being with friends, parties and music. He worked for LCR Corporation for 31 years and retired as manager of the Houma branch in 2005.
He is survived by his wife, Janet Newman Myers; daughters, Sarah (Andy) Breaux and Christy (Keith) LeBlanc; two grandchildren, Leigh and Michael “Gus” LeBlanc; sisters, Melissa Myers and Ann Dartez; and brother, Richard Myers.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Lou Evalyn Brindley Backus Myers and Thomas Hawkins Backus; and his stepfather, Robert Vincent Myers.
According to his wishes, a private ceremony with his family will be held at a later date. (Chauvin)
