Local troops brace for life away from home
January 6, 2010Thomas Joseph Ponvelle, 75, a native and resident of Lil Choupic, La., died at 3:39 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 30, 2009.
Mr. Ponvelle was a veteran of the U.S. Army.
He is survived by his wife, Adeline Delatte Ponvelle; son, Brian Ponvelle; daughters, Donna P. Pitre, Becky (fiancé Troy Bergeron) and Colette Ponvelle; six grandchildren, Jeremy Pitre, Amanda Pitre, Arron Justus, Emily Pitre, Nicholas Pitre and Maya Ponvelle; one great-grandson, Dominic Pitre; brother, Preston Ponvelle Sr.; and a host of family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Edward and Julia Gros Ponvelle.
He is buried at St. Joseph Cemetery in Thibodaux.
Thibodaux Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
