Tommy Toups, 64, a native of Gheens, La. and resident of Houma, La. died Monday, December 10, 2007, at 6:30 p.m.
He is survived by his wife, Marion Toups; three sons, Joey Toups and his wife Tammy, Ted Toups, and Todd Toups; two daughters, Dana Champagne and her husband Dwayne and Teashea Toups; one stepdaughter, Jerri Villavaso and her husband Brad; nine brothers, Donavan, Cleary, Kearney, Dale, Lindel, Dean, Reed, Randy, and Lane Toups; four sisters, Delores Foreman, Brenda Martinez, Connie Matherne, and Cathy Durio; four grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Thomas and Bess Dufrene Toups; two brothers, Alvin and Sandy Toups; and three sisters, Lois Walker, Wanda Toups, and Shillie Sampey.
Tommy was a devout Catholic and a parishioner of St. Anthony Catholic Church. He was a past king of the Vacherie / Gheens Community Center and a member of the Shrimper’s Association.
Visitation is Thursday, December 13, 2007, from 9:00 a.m. until 12:00 p.m., with the funeral to follow at St. Anthony Catholic Church in Gheens. He will be buried in the church cemetery.
In lieu of flowers the family asks donations be made to the American Cancer Society or Hospice of South Louisiana.
Falgout Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
