V.J. Martin

V.J. Martin, 81, a native and resident of Golden Meadow, La. died Monday, November 5, 2007, at 7:20 p.m.

He is survived by his companion of 21 years, Barbara Guidry; two daughters, Starr Martin Duet and Kim Martin Bruce and her husband Tony; one brother, Elson “Coon” Martin; four grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his wife Urelda “Uit” Martin; his parents, Duard and Ada Lefort Martin; and one grandchild.

V.J. was a devout Catholic and a parishioner of Our Lady of Prompt Succor Catholic Church. He was a retired trawler who loved to fish.

Visitation is Thursday, November 8, 2007, from 9:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m., with the funeral to follow at Our Lady of Prompt Succor Catholic Church. He will be buried in the church cemetery.

Samart-Mothe Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
