Tillman talks Terrebonne, reflects on vital three terms

September 8, 2011Van Bernard Matthews, 48, a resident of St. Mary Parish, La., died Wednesday, Aug. 31, 2011.
Mr. Matthews graduated from Franklin Senior High School in 1983 then attended LSU where he obtained an undergraduate degree in Criminal Justice. He later attended Tulane University of New Orleans where he obtained a Jurios Doctorate Degree. He always loved making new friends and was a joy to everyone that experienced his peaceful presence and contagious smile.
He is survived by his sons, Ronnie and Jaques Matthews; brothers, Peterson Jr. and Keith (Sarina) Lewis, O’Neal (Ruby) Matthews and Leroy (Doris) August; sisters, Delores (Wilfred Sr.) Betty, Sherry (Bradley) Hines, Rose (Richard) Archangel and Laurie (Arther) Harden.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Peterson Sr. and Elizabeth.
Burial was at Beau Pre Cemetery in Jeanerette, La. (Jones)
