Verges John Pellegrin, 82, a native and resident of Houma, La., died at 9:25 a.m. Friday, Jan. 6, 2012.


Mr. Pellegrin was a U.S. Marine Corps veteran of the Korean War and owned Pellegrin Brothers Trucking Service along with his brother Bruce. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, woodworking, bowling and square dancing. He was a loving husband, father and grandfather who loved telling stories to his grandchildren. He was a parishioner of Annunziata Catholic Church.


He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Janet Pellegrin; sons, Chris (Kimberly), Mark (Lisa) and Dean Pellegrin; daughter, Amy (Keith) Dupre; brothers, Levis (Billie) and Terry (Gail) Pellegrin; sisters, Enid (Morris) LeBlanc and Ismay Folse; and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Levis and Edna Pellegrin; brother, Bruce Pellegrin; sister, Ruth Malbrough; and grandson, Aaron Pellegrin.

Visitation will be 6 to 9 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 8, at Chauvin Funeral Home and 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. Monday, Jan. 9, at Annunziata Catholic Church with Mass of Christian Burial to follow. Burial will be at Our Lady of the Most Holy Rosary Cemetery. (Chauvin)
