Vernal Oliver Sr., 64, a native and resident of Paincourtville, La., died Thursday, March 19.


He is survived by his wife, Fannie Ward Oliver of Dorseyville, La.; daughter, Kim Morris of Grand Prairie, Tx.; sons, Vernal J. Jr. and Angela Oliver of Dallas, Tx., Torey J. Sr. and Kaina Oliver of Dorseyville, Frank Morris of Grand Prairie, and Brandon Mason of LaPlace, La.; brothers, Marion and Beverly Oliver of Donaldsonville, La., Henderson Jr. and Carrie Oliver of Labadieville, La., Alton and Vera Oliver of Thibodaux, La.; sisters-in-law, Ernestine Oliver of Donaldsonville, Mary Lee Smith and Glenda and husband Clarence Stokes of New Orleans, La.; nine grandchildren; one great-grandchild; and numerous relatives.


He was preceded in death by his parents, Henderson Sr. and Elvia Oliver; daughter, LaVerne Oliver; brother Murphy Oliver; and mother and father-in-law, Luther and Sarah Ward.

He was a U.S. Army veteran and a retired cement finisher.

Visitation will be 2 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. Friday, March 27, at Williams and Southall Funeral Home in Napoleonville, La., and 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. Saturday, March 28, at First Israel Baptist Church in Belle Rose, La. A religious service will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at the church with burial at church cemetery.

Williams and Southall Funeral Home of Napoleonville is in charge of the arrangements.
