Vernon “Bub” Toups Jr., a native and resident of Thibodaux, died at 3:05 p.m. Friday, Oct. 1, 2010, of prostate cancer.

Mr. Toups was the past president of the Acadia Dairy and Louisiana Dairy Products Association. He was also a 30-year member of the Louisiana Dairy Stabilization Board and received the Dairyman of the Year Award in 1993. He served on Argent Bank’s Board of Directors and in 1993 he was Grand Marshal of the Thibodaux Fireman’s Fair.


He is survived by his wife, Phyllis “Fifi” Goula Toups; mother, Marie Webre Toups; sons, Vernon III (Stacy) and Barry (Cindy) Toups; daughters, Raye Toups and Jill (Mike) Fawcett; brother, Daniel “Lou” Toups; sisters, Jane Callahan and Vickie Toups; and six grandchildren.


He was preceded in death by his father, Vernon Toups Sr.

He is buried at St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery.
