Thibodaux church finds its place after 10-year expansion

Capt. Wilber Sons, 82, died Sunday, Jan. 3, 2010.


As a young boy, Capt. Sons helped support his family by trapping and commercial fishing with his father. He was a senior boat captain for more than 50 years. Along with his love for boats, he had a passion for hunting and fishing.


He is survived by sons, Wilber Jr. (Susan), Terry (Donna) and Kerry Sons Sr. and Tommy Heard; daughters, Susan (Mack) Perdue and Sandra (Ricky) Harp; brother, Oristille Sons Jr.; sister, Rose (I.T.) Miller; 20 grandchildren, Peggy Sue Clark, Robert Holt, Nathan Bourgeois, Kathleen Heard, Jenny Heard, April Heard, Brett Legnon, Brian Sons, Tom Sons, Jesica Hickam, Robin Sons, Alisia Sons, Patricia Sons, Monica Sons, Kerry Wayne Sons Jr., Shane Lancon, Kelly Lancon, Richie Firmin, Regina Firmin and Shanna Bryan; numerous great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Oristill Sr. and Jessie Givens Sons Hagen; brothers, Burl, Homer Sr., James, Floyd and Earl Sons; and sisters, Rachael Toups and Winnie Hinkle.

He is buried at the Berwick Cemetery.
