Wilda Marie “Tant Da” Dion Verdin, 82, a native of Terrebonne Parish, La., and a resident of Dulac, La., died at 2 a.m. Wednesday, October 1.

She is survived by three sons, Morris J. Verdin and wife Christine of Galliano, La., Phillip L. Verdin and wife Lona and Julius I. Verdin and wife Sylvia of Houma, La.; one daughter, Marlene M. Foret and husband Reggie of Bourg, La.; one brother, Norris Dion of Dulac; one sister, Anna Mae Gregoire of Houma; two half brothers, Joseph Dion and Ross Dion of Grand Caillou, La.; one half-sister, Rose Pierre of Grand Caillou; 15 grandchildren, Rachel Verdin, Tracy Boudreaux, Tammy Verdin, Jake Verdin, Melissa Ellis, Rodney Verdin, Phyllis Cotton, Rhonda Rodrigue, Suzette Hebert, Rebecca Strange, Leslie Pierre, Amber Marsh, Donnie Verdin, Nicola Rodriguez and Nina Pontiff; 28 great-grandchildren, Michella Pierre, Kevin Pierre, John Verdin, Kristin Verdin, Harley Verdin, Clark Mollinere Jr., Zachery Mollinere, Caitlin Verdin, Marty DeHart Jr., Sacreena Theriot, Chase DeHart, Sierra DeHart, Phillip DeHart, Kyle DeHart, Jordon Verdin, Paiton Verdin, Clint Cotton, Shania Cotton, Tara Landry, Trent Rodrigue, Kerry Parfait, Leah Strange, Lexi Strange, Kelsey Pierre, Gavin Pierre, Tanner Verdin, Connor Verdin and Hunter Rodriguez; three great-great-grandchildren, Yasmine Theriot, Kadence Theriot and Liam Duthu; three step-grandsons, Shane Foret, Jason Foret and David Foret; and three step-great-grandchildren, Marissa Lemay, Landon Foret and Arianna Foret.


She was preceded in death by her husband, Norbert A. Verdin; her parents, Clarence Dion and Anna Mae Fazzio Dion; two grandsons, Richard Verdin and Logan Verdin; two granddaughters, Wilda Verdin and Tonya Dion; one brother, Ivy Dion; and one half-brother, Wilbert Dion.

She was a retired cook for the Terrebonne Parish School Board and a member of the Ladies Knights of Columbus. She was a parishioner of Holy Family Catholic Church

She was buried at Holy Family Catholic Church Cemetery.
