Thibodaux church finds its place after 10-year expansion

Willie “Bear Huggar” Thomas, 62, a native of St. James, La., and resident of Donaldsonville, La., died Friday, Jan. 1, 2010.


He is survived by his wife, Rosie Jane Thomas; stepson, Perry Morgan; stepdaughters, Darlene Morgan and Annette Elphage; sisters, Deloris Trueado, and Gwendolyn (Leroy) Rodriguez; brothers, Charles, Irvin, and John (Jean) Thomas; two devoted friends; six grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.


He was preceded in death by his parents, Louise and Ernest Thomas Jr.; stepsons, Reginald Elphage and Rickey Williams; and nephew, Tory Smith.

He was a City of Donaldsonville employee.

He is buried at St. Luke Baptist Church Cemetery in St. James.

Williams and Southall Funeral Home of Napoleonville, La., is in charge of arrangements.
