Corps of Engineers wins flood fight during Gustav

Wilson E. “Coo Coo” Thibodeaux, 83, a native and resident of Thibodaux, La., died at 7:30 a.m. Friday, September 5.
He is survived by his wife, Marian Andras Thibodeaux; two sons, William “Bill” Thibodeaux and wife Joyce, and Patrick “Pat” Thibodeaux and wife Melissa; three daughters, Cathleen “Cathy” Pitre and husband Joe, Mildren Weldon Walters Mire and husband Ray, and Mary E. Thibodeaux and husband Mike Marcel; two sisters, Lena Ordoyne and Mabel Tabor; 16 grandchildren; and 27 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Victor and Sidonia Thibodaux Thibodeaux; one son, Michael Thibodeaux; one daughter, Amy Stienacker; two brothers, Hector Thibodeaux Sr. and Eunice “Robe” Thibodeaux; four sisters, Corraine Tabor, Velma Boudreaux, Edna Farbe and Henrettia Songe; and two sons-in-law.
He worked for Scrogin, Chromally, Delta Iron Works and Delta Shipyard and was dock master for the gas freeing plant. He was a U.S. Army World War II veteran who served in France and Germany. He was a hunter and fisherman.
He was buried at St. Joseph Cemetery.
