Yvonne Beverly Harris, 63, a native of Terrebonne Parish, La., and resident of Houma, La., died Tuesday, Oct. 18, 2011.
Mrs. Harris was a member of New Jerusalem Baptist Church and a retired teacher for the Head Start Program in Terrebonne and Lafourche. She was a member of Darcus Taylor Order of Cyrene 19, Heroine of Jericho 3 and JJ Clement 15 Order of Eastern Star.
She is survived by her husband, Joseph Harris Sr.; sons, Carlos (Regina) Kemp and Joseph Jr. (Vanessa) Harris; daughters, Jolanda and Jovonne Harris; brothers, Harold Harris and Sylvester Smith Jr.; eight grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Sylvester Sr. and Sarah Smith; sisters, Bernice Ruffin and Doris and Wydonda Smith; and grandparents, Martha and Henry Perkins Sr., Millie Ringo and John Smith.
