Yvonne Matherne Falgout, 93, a native and resident of Raceland, La., died Thursday, January 31, 2008, at 12:30 p.m.


She is survived by her daughter, Peggy Falgout Arabie and husband Milton; daughter-in-law, Jeanne Falgout; six grandchildren; and ten great grandchildren.


She was preceded in death by her husband, Sanders “Pep” Falgout; parents, Phillip and Celema Hebert Matherne; son, Sanders “Sandy” Falgout Jr., brothers, Phillip “Jack” Matherne, Lonnie Matherne, and Herbert “Charlie” Matherne; sisters, Jeanne Matherne Martin and Mable Rodrigue; and great grandson, Christopher P. Zeringue.

Visitation is 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. Monday, February 4, 2008, at St. Mary’s Nativity Catholic Church with services to follow. She will be buried at St. Mary’s Nativity Catholic Cemetery.

Yvonne was very active in her church as a Eucharistic Minister, Lector, and Commentator. She was a member and District Deputy of the Catholic Daughters of America and helped organize many Catholic Daughter Courts through the Diocese. She was a member of the Ladies Altar Society. She was very active in various civic organizations as a member and officer. She was part President of the Homemakers for Lafourche Parish. She worked as a bookkeeper and office manager of several businesses. She enjoyed her church, family, traveling and sewing. She received recognition for her many church and religious services and was awarded the Bishop’s Medal.

Samart-Mothe Funeral Homes is in charge of the arrangements.
