Zenobia Barrow, 88, a native of Terrebonne Parish, La., and a resident of Gray, La., died Thursday, Sept. 17, at 11:40 p.m.


She is survived by six sons, Lionel and wife Inez Barrow of Gray, Melvin Jr. and wife Brenda Barrow of Gray, Alexander and wife Gail Barrow of Raceland, La., Claudell and wife Carolyn Welch of Gray, Chester and wife Priscilla Welch of Gray, and Russell Barrow of Gray; four daughters, Barbara and husband Michael James of Gray, Brenda and Samuel Gaither of Gray, Shirley and husband Henry Patrick of Gray, and Thelma Alexander of Gray; 49 grandchildren; 113 great-grandchildren; 19 great-great-grandchildren; and one great-great-great-grandchild.


She was preceded in death by her husband, Melvin Barrow Sr.; parents, Peter and Laura Welch; one son, Lawrence Barrow II; three brothers, Albert Hammond, Robert Hammond and Richard Welch; and three sisters, Lillie Charles, Victoria Hammond and Racheal Hammond.

She was a homemaker and a member of Eagle Wright Baptist Church.

Visitation will be 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 26, at Eagle Wright Baptist Church with a religious service to follow. Burial will be at Halfway Cemetery in Gray.

Gertrude Geddes G. Willis Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
