Alexius “Ellius” Wayne Bartholomew, age 75, passed away on Sunday, February 26, 2023. Ellius was a native of Buras and a longtime resident of Bourg.

Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend the visitation at St. Ann Catholic Church in Bourg on Saturday, March 4, 2023, beginning at 9:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will begin at 11:00 a.m. and burial to follow in the church cemetery.

Ellius is survived by his wife Antonia Phillips Bartholomew; sister-in-law, Lelya Bartholomew; nieces and nephews, Chastity Ann Soudelier (Olin), Ronnie J. Scott, Jr., Jeremy Scott, Sandy Bartholomew, Amy Wheeler Vasquez (Richie), Katina Martin (Lavon), and Cherie Sanchez (Gil); great nieces and nephews, Austin and Kristin Trahan, Emily Bartholomew, Tori DePascal, Brandon and Shyanne Soudelier, Shawn Ledet, Nathan Scott and Ronnie Scott III, Lauren Scott, Jeremy Scott, Jr., Jewel Martin (Alex), Michelle Martin, Kimberly Martin, Pierre Tayamen, Jamie Tayamen, Mark Tayamen, Jr., Thomas Wheeler (Brittney), Diane Wheeler, Sissy Wheeler, Missy Wheeler, Dorian, Adrian, Isabella, Giuliana, and Alexander Sanchez. He is also survived by numerous great great-nieces and nephews.


Ellius is preceded in death by his parents, Pierre “Peter, Sr. and Mary Alma Bradbury Bartholomew; brother, Pierre Bartholomew, Jr.; sister, Patricia “Pat” Scott (Ronnie Scott, Sr.); nephew, Ronnie Wheeler.

Ellius proudly served our country in the U.S. Army. He enjoyed outings at the Montegut Senior Center, bingo, going to the casino, and spending time with his nieces and nephews that he loved dearly. Ellius was a loving and giving man to all that he knew. By the power of Jesus Christ, Ellius has been healed from any pain and suffering and has received a new body. He is now reunited with his family who passed before him and rest in the arms of his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.
