On Monday, November 6, 2023, God in his infinite wisdom while strolling through his flower garden spotted a beautiful yellow rose in full bloom in the mist of that heavenly garden that was just right for the plucking.


This beautiful yellow rose was “Barbara P. Hartman on November 7, 1940, she was born to her amazing, loving parents the late Stewart and Leola Nash Poindexter. She was the second of three children.

Sis Barbara graduated from Southdown High School, she graduated from Saint Louis University Center for Hospital continuing her Education in May of 1972, she also graduated from Louisiana Hospital Associations School of Supervisory Training in August of 1998.

Barbara met and married Earl Hartman Jr. to that union two children were born Gregory (late) and Debra A. Hartman.


Barbara was an active member of the Residence Baptist Church; she served as the church secretary for several years. She also was an active member of the senior choir until her health didn’t allow.

Sis. Barbara leaves to mourn her passing her daughter; Debra Ann Hartman, four grandchildren; Derrick Johnson, Daniell N. Hartman and Chantal Trosclair all of Houma, LA; Seaja (April) of New Orleans, LA; five great grandchildren; one sister; Bernadine P. Charles of Houma, LA; one niece; Heather (Robert) Gobert of Houston, TX; one godchild; Debbie G. George of Houma, LA; one god sister; Barbara A. Lewis, three sisters-in-law; Aletha Coleman, Laverne H. Short and Elizabeth Hartman all of Houma, LA; one spiritual sister-in-law; Lizza Guidry; two brothers-in-law; Pastor Graylin Hartman and James (Georgette) Hartman both of Houma, LA;

Sis Barbara was preceded in death by her parents; Stewart and Leola N. Poindexter; one son; Gregory Hartman; sisters; Ernestine P. Perkins, brothers -in-law; Mark Perkins and James E. Charles; one spiritual brother; Herbert Guidry.


Visitation and funeral services will be observed on Monday, November 13, 2023 at Residence Baptist Church 2605 Isaac St., Houma, LA from 9:00 AM until funeral time at 10:00AM. Burial will follow at the church cemetery.
