Catherine Lynn Hendrix (Cathy), 65, passed away in the early morning hours of December 1, 2023.  Born September 29, 1958, in Lafayette, Louisiana, Cathy spent most of her childhood in Morgan City.  She graduated from Morgan City High School in 1976 and attended Louisiana State University, where she began a long and successful career in the music industry.

Cathy worked in publicity, promotions, and artist management, serving as a liaison between record labels, booking agents, publicists, and artists, including singer/songwriter Ron Sexsmith, with whom she worked for many years. She retired from her position as Director of Online Communications at Centerstone in Nashville, TN in 2019; prior to that, she served as Director of Communications for the Episcopal Diocese of Tennessee. Cathy returned to South Louisiana in 2020, where she resided in Houma, LA until her death.

Cathy is survived by her sisters, Susan Hendrix Brumfield and Sarah Hendrix Todd; brother-in-law Mark Todd; nieces Erin Todd Menge (Evan) and Kelly Todd VandeGuchte (Drew); great-nieces and nephews Brendon, Logan, and Draven Menge, Alice Daigle and Ruby June VandeGuchte; cousins Mike Walters, Jim Melvin (Sue), Ricky Melvin (Deborah), Rocky Melvin (Sandra), and Erica Robicheaux (Kirk) and their children.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Jerry and Marlene Hendrix.

Cathy was passionate about music, fascinated by pop culture and devoted to her dog, Hermione. She was an excellent cook and writer; her clever wit and sharp observations are reflected in blogs posted on her website. She volunteered at the Shady Acres Senior Center, where she enjoyed weekly karaoke each Thursday morning.

A memorial gathering in celebration of Cathy’s life will be held on Saturday, December 30, 2023 at the Chauvin Sculpture Garden in Chauvin, Louisiana (near Houma).  In lieu of flowers, please consider making a charitable donation in Cathy’s name to the Chauvin Sculpture Gardens: nichollsfoundation.org (specify “Friends of the Chauvin Sculpture Garden” in the allocation space).

The family would like to thank Dr. Ernest Quentin and the staff of ICU doctors and nurses at Leonard J. Chabert Medical center for their care and compassion.

Samart Funeral Home of Houma, Bayou Blue is in charge of arrangements.
