Christine “Tina” Marie Dagate, age 71, born on March 17, 1951, was called home to be with her Lord in Heaven on Thursday, December 29, 2022, and is now at peace. She was a 1969 graduate of Vandebilt Catholic High School and lifetime resident of Houma.

Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend the visitation at St. Bernadette Catholic Church on Thursday, January 5, 2023, beginning at 9:30 a.m. until the Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 a.m. Burial will follow in St. Francis Cemetery #2.

Tina is survived by her son, Alexander “Ben” Benjamin Cannon; her daughter, Sarah Cannon Olivier (Alex); her grandchildren, Gabriel Olivier and Grace Olivier; her sister, Bernadette D. Straatmann (Larry); her brother, Russell A. Strada (Ken Jones). She is also survived by several nieces and nephews.

Tina is preceded in death by her parents, Alex L. Dagate and Emmadel Boyne D. Strada; maternal grandparents, Andrew and Mary Belanger Boyne; paternal grandparents, Lawrence and Victoria Dagate; her brother, Jerome Michael Dagate.

Tina was a gentle soul always happy and kind to all. She loved her extended family and neighbors deeply but her greatest love was her children and grandchildren that meant the world to her. She was a humble Christian of great faith who accepted her simple life, read her bible, and memorized her favorite verses and put them to use daily. Anyone who knew Tina, knew she enjoyed listening to different genres of music.

Being born on St. Patrick’s Day was special for her, she believed it gave her a lively spirit and reason to celebrate. The shamrock representing the Trinity is used as a tool to teach Christianity and the rainbow representing hope and brighter days ahead. She enjoyed dressing in all green as it means eternal youth.

Tina’s inspiration was to pray for everyone. To love and be loved brought her joy and comfort. Tina was a treasure to all that knew her and will be missed dearly and always remembered.

Special thanks to START Corporation for over 20 years of service to her. “Every life is noted and cherished, and nothing loved is ever lost or perished”.
