Claire Chauvin Brien, 89, passed away on Tuesday, December 28, 2021 at 1:29 p.m. Claire was a native and lifelong resident of Houma, Louisiana.

Services will be held at Chauvin Funeral Home on Monday, January 3, 2022, with visitation beginning at 9:00 a.m. until funeral time at 11:00 a.m., followed by burial services at Terrebonne Memorial Park.

Claire is survived by her sons: Gordon J. Brien, Jr., John A. Brien, Patrick J. Brien, and James Blanchard, Jr.; 12 grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.

Claire is preceded in death by her loving husband of 67 years, Gordon Brien Sr., her parents, Clarence and Estelle Chauvin, sister, Jane Hitt, son, Michael Crochet, and great grandson, Cole Michael Brien.

Claire spent her life doing the things she loved, whether it was fishing, hunting, riding horses, and even the occasional bull eying for rabbits. You could have also found her at the card table with her family and friends, offering lessons to anyone that needed them. If you heard laughter, you could bet that she was at the center of it. Some would say she was fearless, riding her motorbike and horse through the streets of downtown Houma, turning heads everywhere she traveled. She had a special way of making everyone feel loved, and the memory of her will live on in all that she has met. Claire lived a vibrant, happy life, and she will be missed terribly by all.

The family would like to thank Notre Dame Hospice for their compassion and excellent patient care. The family would also like to extend gratitude to Claire’s personal caregivers, all of whom made sure she was cared for with the highest of regards.
