Curtis Duplechain, M.D.

Curtis Duplechain M.D., 86, died Tuesday, November 7, 2023. Born May 12, 1937, he was a native of Oberlin, Louisiana and resident of Thibodaux, Louisiana.

A visitation will be held on Friday, November 10, 2023 from 9:00 AM until service time at Christ the Redeemer. A Mass of Christian Burial will begin at 11:00 AM at the church with burial following at Saint Joseph Cemetery.

He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Donna Dupuy Duplechain, who was the love of his life; daughters, Debra D. Boehringer (Bo), Sheri D. Danos; son, Stephen Duplechain, M.D.; grandchildren, Karl Boehringer, Kurt Boehringer (Sarah), Blake Boehringer (Danielle), Leigh Ann O’Banion (Mike), Jodie Pitre (Kevin), Taft Duplechain, Scott Duplechain, Matthew Duplechain; great grandchildren, Beau Boehringer, Russell Boehringer, Andi Boehringer, Ella Boehringer, Lily Boehringer, Ellie O’Banion, Maddie O’Banion, Charlotte Pitre, Riley Pitre, Blair Pitre.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Foster and Marie Young Duplechain.

He was a Vietnam veteran having served in the United States Army Reserve Medical Corps and attaining the rank of Major. He practiced Radiology in the Houma – Thibodaux area for over 35 years and was the first Chief of Staff of Thibodaux General Hospital in 1975. He was a member of the Thibodaux Rotary Club and was one of the seven founding members of the Acadian Bank (now Regions Bank). He was appointed by Governor Edwin Edwards to the HEAL Board.

“Papa” lived life to the fullest, traveling the world with “Mimi”, spending precious time with family on Grand Isle, and on holidays, entertaining friends in a gourmet Supper Club, and sharing a nice bottle of wine. He was a man of deep faith and will be sorely missed.
